MSc fieldwork and related travel costs

The Scottish Forestry Trust recognises that the cost of fieldwork and associated travel can be a barrier for Masters students, despite the valuable experience these activities provide. We offer funding to help students access these opportunities and make the most of their studies.

Who can apply?

Funding is available to students undertaking taught or research-based MSc programmes related to forestry and arboriculture at UK institutions. Support can be used towards fieldwork costs or travel directly associated with fieldwork.

Funding is competitive and limited, with awards made on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to eligibility and the availability of funds.

For full details of the eligibility criteria and what costs can be supported, please read the scheme guidance.

How to apply

Applications can be submitted to the SFT Director at any time using the MSc Fieldwork and Travel Costs application form.

When will I hear back?

The Trust will normally notify applicants of its decision within three weeks of receiving their application.
