Support for early career researchers to attend conferences

The Scottish Forestry Trust supports early career researchers to attend conferences that advance knowledge and collaboration within the UK forestry sector. The scheme helps recently qualified researchers share their work, present their findings and build professional networks, both in the UK and overseas.

What funding is available?

The Trust can contribute up to 30% of eligible conference attendance costs, to a maximum of £1,000 per researcher.

To qualify, conferences must be relevant to UK forestry and provide opportunities for participants to present their research and establish new collaborative networks.

Completed applications should be emailed to the Trust Director.

Funding availability

The Trust allocates £5,000 per year to this scheme. Applications are accepted throughout the year, but funding is limited and subject to availability.

We recommend contacting the Director before applying to check that funds remain available for the relevant year.

The Scottish Forestry Trust SCIO is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Scottish Charity No. SC053147). The Scottish Forestry Trust was established in 1983 by a gift of share capital, and our role is to provide funds by way of grants, to support research, education and training throughout the UK.  Since our establishment, we have provided nearly £2.7m to fund over 190 projects ranging from supporting post graduate industry applied research, social and environmental forestry, policy formulation and broader public education and awareness.
